Socially conscience theme, but too long

As a writer, it was obvious to me that no new ideas were created in this flick. Take the dragon legends of Eragon, the incubater tanks of the Alien movies (with Sigourney for reference), the flight antics of the Harry Potter class, plug them into the MATRIX and Voila - AVATAR is born. What I do applaud is the socially conscience theme which demonstrated how "man" pillages and burns the homelands of races of people to obtain resources that don't belong to them. In this case the metal was ironically called the "unobtainable." Parallell this with diamonds in Africa, Oil in the Middle East, and clean water in other unfortunate corners of the world. If we know this is wrong, why don't we stop it?!!!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
