Visuals/Effects: 5+ -- Characters/Dialogue: 2.5 Avatar is great 3D entertainment that smoothly integrates CGI into live action shots, and that's why you should see it. The visuals are amazing, and the imagination put into the technology and nature on Pandora are a lot of fun. On the flipside, the characters are one-dimensional and the dialogue is terrible. The movie's bad guys are the worst. Their characters are merely vehicles for the plot, and have zero redeeming qualities. This is not a film to spur moral questions; it's a movie promoting a certain view of humanity's best and worst natures--a James Cameron fairy tale. Go see if for fun (and for Michelle Rodriquez) and don't expect too much in the way of depth.
