Not the typical special effects blockbuster as it has an actual story!
Like most plots, it was predictable, but the way they got there was unique. It was more than Earth with odd animals and weird looking people and they used that in the story. They did an excellent job of making it a different world.
The CG action is the best that I've seen. When CG and live characters were together, the difference wasn't noticable. It was easy to forget that they were CG characters. They looked very real and so did the planet.
The 3D effects were outstanding. It was an excellent adaptation and they used the effects to enhance the movie, not show off 3D.
I enjoyed movie for the plot, scenery and special effects. I'd definitely see it again.
