What an awful movie. The story is depressing, poorly concieved, and terribly written. The acting is pathetic. The visual effects are subpar retreats of previous computer graphic movies. The title is the best thing going for this movie - at least from the producers perspective because you will quickly discover you have been sucker punched into seeing this travesty.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Excellent Adaption

An excellent adaption of the book. Good screenplay, great acting, exciting and scary in all the right places. The ministry scene had just the right tension. I was suprised at where they stopped as I thought it would be two scenes earlier - but it worked out just as well. it was well worth taking my 12 year old to the 3am IMAX show and we will now doubt see it many more times while it is in first run. The only downside is having to wait until next summer for the finale. Bottom Line - run, don't walk to your nearest theater.
