too lifelike

I like Robert Duvall, and Jeff Bridges does some fine acting. Crazy Heart never shows any great moments of insight. It just seems to bumble along through happenstance and misunderstanding. Guided by that process it winds up in a differently dysfunctional place than it began in. I left without any greater understanding of the human condition, just just another example of how not to waste your life.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
