At first I thought 'Sherlock Holmes" was going to be just another mindless action graphics movie. But wait!...about 10 minutes or so in it gets better.
It catches you up in its snappy dialogue, lightning-fast effects, and fascinatingly eerie constructions of Olde London like you've never seen (or imagined) it before.
It pulls in a lot of contemporary references that makes Sherlock Holmes new. You ma y notice some James Bond touches. It's a lark, an adventure, a thriller, and just a touch of deft dark romance.
Plenty of strings left glaringly hanging.
I sense a franchise.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
