OK--I admit the experience of this movie in IMAX, digital, 3-D is riveting. But really, where are the old-fashioned movie values (such as, a developed story and characters)? These things have never been important to James Cameron. In Titanic, he used a cliched love story and characters who ran true to type. This time, his hopes for another Titanic hit betray him to such a degree that his main characters (Jack/Jake??) and score smack not just of old Hollywood, but of old Cameron. Go see Avatar, but afterward, come home and rent Pan's Labyrinth to see true magical effects wedded with great storytelling.
