Excellent visual effects

Avatar is seriously impressive. I saw it in IMAX 3D at a standard theater. In hindsight, I would not have bothered with the IMAX version without going to a "real" IMAX theater. However, the 3D was spectacular. I would strongly recommend that everyone who has any interest in this movie first see it in 3D. The 3D effects are an integral part of the movie, and you feel as if you can reach out and touch something on the screen in almost every scene. The computer generated effects are the best I have ever seen. The combination of CG and live action is extremely well done. The visuals are lush and beautiful - except for the war scenes. I thoroughly enjoyed all 160 minutes of this movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
