I didn't want to see this movie at first because I am such a fan of the Sherlock Holmes movies of my era; however, when I learned that Robert Downey Jr. was in it I knew it must be good. He never disappoints. Although, they updated the characters of Holmes and Watson to fit the psyche of modern day detectives, the movie was fantastic....I loved the new theme. Instead of seeing the perfectionism in Holmes, we see the neuroticism. It gives explanation to why his character was such a genius and Law was brilliant playing an updated Watson. I loved the action, the scenery of “what London would have looked like” with its over crowed streets and seedy marginal society. Holmes and Watson fit right in. I give it 5 stars.
