A fun ride

As a fan of Sherlock Holmes in novel form, I was afraid of the direction this film took. There is mention in the books of Holmes' ability to analyze an enemy's weak points physically as well as mentally, but the overblown pit fighter image seemed over the top. Fortunately, Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law are so absolutely charming as Holmes & Watson that I'm happy to accept an alternate, more physical Holmes. I hope there's a sequel.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Great effects, good story

I can't give Avatar 5 stars because the story was enjoyable but very predictable. There were no surprises apart from the concept of Pandora.
That's the only detraction. The effects were amazing. As others have said, there was no suspension of disbelief when it comes to accepting the CGI as reality. This film featured the smoothest effects I've seen, and I'll gladly pay to see the IMAX 3-D version again while it's still in theaters.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
