While the plot was extremely pedestrian and predictable, the effects were quite wonderful at times. However, during the big battle scene, I wasn't sure if I was on Pandora or Endor! It was fun, though, and worth the price of admission for the 3D experience and effects in general. I think that Cameron's long version of ABYSS is a much more interesting movie and wish he had put more time into this story line.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
