Too hip for school

I can only review half the movie since my wife and I decided to leave half way through. It was not Sherock Holmes in any recognizable way. The movie tried to be all things to all people with violence, occult, shock, romance, stereotypes, slo mo, flashbacks and hipness. On the edge of boring and without the charm that comes with period films. It had a good look and good acting but might have benifited if not connected to a known character like Sherlock Holmes. Some will like it as eye candy and entertainment, others will dispise it for it's creative liscense and hollow story.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
