Really, no complaints here. See it in IMAX for the full effect of the movie, which delivers on all fronts. The plot kept me on edge, Cumberbatch's villain was a treat, and the special effects blew me away. Truly a crisp, crystal-clear experience. The color absolutely pops in many of the sequences, putting the viewer directly in the mix. I also love what these guys are doing to set up future movies. I was never a fan of the older Star Treks (TV of Film), yet I find myself wanting to be immersed in its new universe. Looks like this'll be a steady franchise for years to come.
Pros well paced, great story, great special effects, great villain, great action
Top notch, Oscar-worthy performances from McConaughey and Sheridan. Nichols delivers on the screenplay front, delivering a truly authentic feel and grit to the mood and plot of the movie. The story itself isn't overwhelming, and it doesn't need to be; it is beautiful in its simplicity. It is exciting in its concept. It is hard-hitting in its message. Broad themes of love, loyalty, and integrity are touched upon and skillfully traversed. Nichols has a winner here.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, authentic, great screenplay
Quality action/sci-fi flick, with ridiculous effects and ever-witty dialogue. See it in IMAX for the full experience. Downey delivers as always. It seems he is made for the role. 2 or 3 top notch action sequences that are the hallmark of the movie, truthfully. The villain is formidable when based in the science of it all, but in one, entirely unnecessary plot turn, his power borders on the absurd (SPOILER: he breaths fire). All in all, maybe the second best in the Iron Man franchise, and completely worth the price of admission. Great start to the summer blockbuster season!
Pros well paced, great action, great science fiction concepts
Nothing wrong with the first version of this flick, with the exception of the ever-annoying boy, and this one delivers an even harder punch. Same quick, relevant dialogue intertwined with a sci-fi addict's dream plot and mythology. The effects need no explanation, and the 3D upgrade makes the movie pop in all the right places. Overall, about as perfect of an IMAX experience as one could have, complete with nostalgia included. And te biggest T-Rex anyone has ever seen on screen!
Without giving too much away, this was a very, very good final installment to the trilogy. The villain was intriguing, as has been the case with Nolan's films, and the effects were top notch, especially in IMAX. The only issues I had were with the story itself, here or there, but nothing enough to ruin the movie. The movie is probably and 8 or 9 out of 10, but because there are only 5 stars for review here, I chose excellent instead of just good. Strongly recommended. I'll be going a second time.
Let me start by saying I've always had an affinity for this series. None are really good movies but they're generally entertaining. This is EASILY the most entertaining of the bunch. Large cast, beautiful scenery, ridiculous stunts, outrageous action. As action movies go, it was a ten. And the IMAX only accentuated this. As expected though, the dialogue was poor at times and predictable, as was some of the plot. If I'm being honest, the movie was about a 6.5 out of 10 overall. The more I think about it, it could be a 7. Either way, it was well worth the price of admission, the imax format was amazing, and the action was nonstop and worth writing home about. Check it out for a wild ride!
I'll be honest: when I first saw the previews, I thought this might be the worst movie of the year. And I'm sure it is for some; it's definitely a hate it or love it flick. I figured I'd give it a whirl b/c it was Snyder, it was in IMAX, and it looked painstakingly absurd. I like weird/fantastic material, so I went with it.
I'll say that Snyder definitely left his mark on the movie, what with his long, dialogue-less scenes and a pretty badass sound track per the usual. Otherwise, there was a chunk of the movie that was too gratuitous and outrageous, even with knowing exactly what I was getting myself into. The CGI could''ve been a bit better at parts too. Not too big of a deal. If I had to splice it up, I'd say I absolutely loved the first 45 minutes, dealt with the next 45, and loved the final 30.
The character Blue was a delight, as were most if not all scenes in the nightclub. And It didn't hurt that these girl are drop-dead. All in all, it was definitely worth the price of the IMAX ticket. It was grandiose in its fantastic nature, and many of the screen shots were mind-blowing. If you know what you're getting yourself into and take it for what it's worth, it really is a wild ride.
My date and I absolutely loved it. The characters were intersting and hilarious. I wouldn't say the concepts within the movie were unoriginal at all. In fact, just the opposite. They were new and fun. I saw Despicable Me earlier this year with the same date and loved it as well, but we both agree it wasn't nearly as good as Megamind. Anyone that doesn't like this movie is simply not out to have a good time. I literally had a smile on my face the entire time.
