I liked the film. My only real exposure to Sherlock Holmes was the collection of black and white films starring Basil Rathbone in the title role. I think he would have approved of this modern take on the character. I liked the bond between Holmes and Watson. The fact that Watson was not the blithering sidekick (whom I thoroughly enjoyed) played by Nigel Bruce in the old films was a welcome nuance to the Sherlock Holmes story I had in my mind. I could appreciate the "Matrix" style action scenes. I thought they were well established right in the beginning of the film and added to the piece when they could easily have been distracting or even silly. The ending was exactly the style I wanted.
