Usually when I tell people not to miss a movie, I mean it's a great movie. Avatar is not a great movie. It is just visually an unparalleled movie; altogether worth the price of admission for IMAX 3D. If you can, see it in IMAX, if you can't, see it in regular 3D. If you can't see it in either, don't bother. The acting is generally excellent; but they suffered from a weak script. It has great moments, and horrid ones. This movie is variably a slam on capitalism or US foreign policy, and not deft at either one. All that aside, the visual effects were amazing, and shouldn't be missed. If you are after the plot or acting, small screen is enough. Don't miss this on the big screen; it’s unlikely this will translate well to the small screen.
