Despite Heath Ledger as best villain ever, Marvel movies continue to pull away from DC like they were standing still. I can't help but think it's the deep characterization (well, "deeper" anyway) as compared to the bland other-verse. And even in the Marvel-verse, Cap really stands out. The long pre-cap story (which flies by regardless) convincingly establishes Steve Rogers as a true heroic character - in contrast to most other heroes who only become heroic after they get their powers.
Now I really can't wait to hear "Avengers, Assemble!" next year!
The use of 3d was excellent. After 30 minutes, I practically forgot about it and was just "in" the scene. The special effects were seamless (in IMAX) - even when a scene logically had both real and computer-generated content, you could not tell any difference between them.
The story was pretty basic, but that just let you immerse yourself in the experience.
