Bit of a Disappointment

Rating strictly based on the outstanding computer graphics which brought realistic depth of field to everything...BUT I was also disappointed with the overall 3D experience... wanted to see things flying out of the screen and with a couple exceptions that wasn't happening. Avatar is largely an exercise of James Cameron's self-indulgence... story is unremarkable.... and, like Titanic, the movie is WAY TOO LONG... the battle sequence drags on and on and on... could easily have been trimmed to 2 hours. ... if this wasn't in 3D and a precursor of the likely next generation of movie special effects.... I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE... and I certainly would not recommend watching it on DVD.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
