This was the most electrifying experience I have ever seen. Elina Garanca had all the passion, tempesuousness and exoticness that one would ever want to see in this role. And yet, she still had a touch of humbleness that exuded when warrented. The entire cast performed to a level that went beyond what was called for.
livThe staging was phenonenol and the choreography was equal to anything one would see on Broadway - even saw a touch of Agnes De Mile in the pas de deux.
Seeing it in the movie house you can e with the expressiveness of the actors which one cannot see live sitting in the balcony of the Met. .
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I am no opera lover and only went to this to please my wife. I have to say this was an awesome experience. Not only was I captivated by the singing and the acting, but the sets were breathtaking.
Watching the stage crew changing scenery was a show in itself - how they changed the sets in the allotted 20 minutes was miraculous.
The commentary between the acts along with the interviews by Placico Domingo added immeasureably to the entire experiece.
I was so taken by this performance I immediately bought tickets to Carmen in three weeks time.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
