I am an avid fan of the books so I was very skeptical about seeing this movie. For once, a movie based on a very good book did not disappoint. While there were some changes made to the story in the book, the essential important points were still there. The actors did a fabulous job of portraying the characters and the acting was well-done and, at times, very intense. If you can get past the screaming girls in the audience and just focus on the movie itself, you will have an enjoyable time.
I am not married but I am in a very serious relationship that is leading to marriage. We saw this movie together and it really touched our hearts. It's about time that people got to see what real marriage is rather than the so-called "fairy tale" that Hollywood claims. Marriage is about work, sacrifice, and unconditional love, even when someone does not deserve it. If the principles of this movie are followed, any marriage can be saved.
The acting was very well done in this movie. Parts of it were very intense and difficult to watch. The firefighting scenes were loaded with suspense and very well done. Overall, I would say that this is a step up from "Facing the Giants" and hopefully the target audience will be reached.
If I don't compare this movie to the book, it is a very enjoyable, action-packed movie. If you are looking for the book on screen, you will not find it here. Adamson took EXTREME liberties with the plot. However, the actors were all very impressive, as was the cinematography. I was pleased that much of the theological part of the story, written by C.S. Lewis, was still in the movie. If anything, the added plot helped to enhance that. The movie is a bit violent for young children but they will delight in the characters of Reepicheep, Trufflehunter, the Talking Bear, and Aslan, himself.
