I would recommend this to anyone old enough to handle the violence and language - it's not a movie for little kids. It is a pretty lame story with a weak, one-dimensional political message about as subtle as a sledgehammer. Despite that, though, if you are a movie fan you should see it in the theater - I saw it an IMAX 3D theater and it was really amazing to behold, even if I had to grit my teeth to sit through the love-your-mother-earth lectures and banal love story. The alien moon is beautiful and the execution of the effects are truly impressive. Too bad they couldn't have spent a few of the $$$ on a better story to accompany the graphics.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
