I would recommend this film only for the 3-D special effects. They were genuinely remarkable. But it was a terrible script. I'll give it marks for idealism, but it was trite, unbelievable (even for a sci-fi), crude lines (with the one exception of the iconic, "I see you"), and poorly constructed. For one example, the hero's transition into "caring soul" was abrupt and turns on one line – yet that is the whole point of the movie! For me a bad script is like a silly rubber shark in an action movie. It ruins "the magic" that is supposed to draw you in.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
