Wow was this lame. I was so disappointed because I love both the lead actors but even good comedic actors can't save a terrible screenplay. It simply wasn't funny. It was so "unfunny" that my son and I actually left after an hour well before the movie was over. Don't waste your time or money on this dud.
I know a lot of people love this moving and it will get multiple Oscar nods, but I found it painfully boring as is almost every Daniel Day Lewis movie. This was very similar to There Will Be Blood which was as excrutiatingly dull. There is no doubt that DDL is one of the most talented and prolific actors in the history of cinema and his portrayal of Lincoln was amazing, but as with many period pieces, this was was just plain boring. Frankly if you want to see a historical piece about American history that is equally well acted and actually entertaining as a piece of cinema, go rent the HBO miniseries John Adams; its actually enjoyable.
I hadn't read the book and wish I had as it was hard to keep track of all the character names being thrown around all the time, but this is a first class thriller. If you haven't read the book, the climactic ending is definately a surprise. The acting is superb as is the action and suspense and as usual David Fincher's direction is wonderful. I would definately see this movie again and can't wait for the next one in the Trilogy.
Going to this validated why I shouldn't bother reading reviews from the "so called" professional movie critics that said this was mediocre. I thought it was hilarious from start to finish and I enjoyed it as much or more than my 2 1/2 yr old. The plot is creative and interesting (and frankly a little complex for the kids to really follow) and they focus on Mater as the lead this time. Larry the Cable Guy has great one liners throughout and there's lots of interesting new characters. As painful as some kid movies are to endure for parents, you may have more fun than the little ones.
I really enjoyed this movie. The plot is very interesting, and it literally has you guessing as to what is going on with Liam Neesan's character until the last 30 minutes; is he insane, has he been brainwashed, does he have amnesia? Very good pace with some good fight scenes and car chases. It's not Bourne, but it's definately worth seeing.
There are multiple laugh out loud moments in this movie, but sometimes it's painful watching Adam Sandler on screen, particularly when he's trying to be romantic with women. He looks so uncomforable, and there's not a lot of chemistry with him and Aniston. Aniston and Decker are both stunning, but the best person in the movie is Sandler's best friend. There is a scene with a sheep that will make your fall out of your chair with laughter.
First of all, don't waste the extra money on the 3D. There are no cool 3D enhancements at all. Secondly, this movie was pretty lame. The plot is ridiculous and Seth Rogen is proving to be a very one dimensional actor; the goofy stoner/partyer. It was great in Knocked Up and Pinapple Express but annoying in this movie.
The action scenes are good and Kato kicks ass but compared to other action movies in this genre, it's pretty weak. I'd wait for The Green Lantern and Thor.
I'm only giving this movie 2 stars because of the excellent acting. Otherwise, this was the most boring movie I've seen in years. It was very choppy moving from one vignette to the other and you were wondering the whole time if all these people's lives were ever going to intersect. It's very surprising that Clint Eastwood would make such a lame movie after all his major hits in the last five yrs. I'd only recommend this if you have insomnia and need something to help you fall asleep.
Ben Afflack reminds us in this movie that when he gets a great script, he is every bit as talented an actor as his buddy Matt. Great action, acting, and storyline about another tough burrough of Boston.
Easily one of the best movies of the year. Also, Blake Lively shows that she is more than just a beautiful girl with a very convincing performance and Jeremy Renner validates his acting chops as a follow up to The Hurt Locker
The most visually stunning movie I've ever seen. The level of detail James Cameron uses is amazing. My wife is not a sci fi fan at all but was blown away by the action, story, and of course unbelievable special effects. I think this will very well be the highest grossing film of all time. By far the best movie of the last 2-3 years.
