I would say this was a breakthrough movie. To say i was stunned by its visual effects and its presence when i watched it in IMAX is an understatement. It was a great visual experience, it takes the viewer to a new world with its own rules.
The story is not that different or great, but the screenplay and the Visual effects make for it. I would give it a 3 for Story and 5 for overall movie experience. I watched this movie thrice. I might take a ride to Pandora on April if its still available on IMAX

The move is a eye candy no doubt, the visual effects are good. The cast creates an expectation of some good script and character development. Unfortunately the story seems to be clumsy and the characters just come and go. Its a good movie if you have minimum expectation on the story and if you are just for the visual effects.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
