Without the new 3D effects and the giant screen, I WOULD say wait for the video; as others have pointed out, this is probably Cameron's weakest story and dialogue. But with these incredible technical add-ons, I say go NOW and see it. The film is a beautiful, technical marvel that was at least never boring (similar to "2012"), and I'm glad that I spent the extra money to see it in Imax 3D. If I ever rent the video, it would be to see the bonus features of how the movie was made.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
