Definitely see it in Imax 3d if available to you.
There were many references to previous Cameron films. Sigourney Weaver, rising from her sleep-pod, had me looking for Jones the cat. This is not a criticism. It added to my enjoyment of the film.
While the quality of the film was excellent: 5/5. The underlying plot was more political than the genre warrants. Did the Zoe Saldana character have to ululate (the lulululu vocalization)? We all wanted her to be our avatar, not the avatar of middle-eastern jihadists warring against the west. We don't need propaganda inserted into our escapism, Mr. Cameron. A simple 5 second voice edit would have raised my rating a full star.
I reccomend the Imax movie.
