Writer of the book upon which the movie is based who also is the screen writer says he included a major role for Hitchcock's wife because his book was wrong! How can you believe a writer? Did integrity or $$$ drive him? Hopkins and Mirren are wonderful. Story is interesting, much like the film about Marilyn Monroe and Laurence Olivier (and equally well acted). Hppkins really inhabits Hitchcock, who appears not quite as bizarre and mean as others have described him. Was Janet Leigh really that professional? That also is not the way others have described her.
I found the way they guarded the ending of "Psycho" and the way they marketed the movie as fascinating and from the period.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This is an interesting and astonishing story about Queen Elizabeth's father, King George VI. If it is accurate, it is an uplifting situation of a man overcoming a strong psychologically-caused disability. Colin Firth's acting is truly exceptional. Everyone else is wonderful, too, but for Geoffrey Rush it should have been easier as he has portrayed similar characters before. The movie is a "don't miss."
Yes, I recommend this movie.

We felt the movie depicts NYC and not many other places, so people off the East Coast may not relate to it. The movie moved slowly and didn't make its point very well. We did not empathize with the characters. We would not recommend it.
We thought the acting was excellent, the locations beautiful. We learned something about a British monarch about whom we knew only a little. I wish the epilogue were more complete, i.e. which of the nine children became king. It also wasn't clear what happened to Lord Melbourne. Emily Blunt did a wonderful job. We look forward to a follow up movie on Victoria's reign.
