In an era of reboots, re-shoots and CGI, you would think a prequel to one of the biggest movie of the 70's would be downright amazing.
Prepare to want your money back.
Granted the movie is nothing short of a visual spectacle, well as much as a cave backdrop can give you. The ship/aliens didn't disappoint, but they didn't 40 some odd years ago in the follow up of this shamble.
Acting was so so with Charlize Theron being one of the two characters you actually want to see on screen. Idris Elba was the other. Sure Guy Pearce makes an appearance as a feeble Wayland, but sadly Jackass' old man costume looks better.
If anything the story itself is entertaining, I mean a prequel to one of the best mediocre sci/fi trilogies has to have a decent beginning right? I mean, a ship crash landing on a planet and them finding aliens doesn't sound like much of a story, which is why the first Alien is boring, oh wait, sorry that was a spoiler. The only difference between the plot of Alien and Prometheus is the fact the Prometheus is about a half hour shorter.
Cons slow, unoriginal
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Not that is saying much. With the money these movies bring in, and being on the last book, you would think they could throw a little more money into production quality, sets, etc.
The movie was by far better than the others, although the acting is still lacking, but that doesn't matter to a bunch of drooling 15 year old girls. I am happy they broke up the story into two movies, as the others were lacking, um a lot of the story the books told. But all in all it was my favorite movie so far.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Tron Legacy Review:
Jeff Bridges reprises his role of "the Dude" as he battles an evil version or himself. His son instigates the whole mess, and with the help of an AI hottie, they plan to escape "the grid".
All in all, the acting was better than I thought it would be, the CGI version of Jeff Bridges was awful (Not as bad as Arnold though, it almost felt like a Pixar movie at some points), and the action sequences were done well enough to know what was going on most of the time, which Hollywood seems to have forgotten how to do. The storyline was a bit more in depth than an 80's action film, and surprisingly the 3-d fit the movie well. They actually made a lot of the movie in 2-d so you didn't have to deal with it when it wasn't pertinent.
