The two long numbers in the film from Fergie and Kate Hudson are fantastic, fun and sexy. THe rest of the film, while beautifully shot, is lame. Marion Cotillard is stunningly beautiful, but only sparingly and depressingly used in Nine. Penelope Cruz starts off as funny, and witty and then gets molded into a sad, pathetic character.
DanielDay Lewis was wrong for this role, too heavy-handed, and instead of liking the bad-boy you just end up...well, not liking him. Nicole Kidman only shines when you realize how sad she is at the end of her time on screen, nothing explained or even gleaned, just sad.
Not a bad movie, just not good, and WAY less than I would expect from Rob Marshall
