Too Long - Good CGI

While I was quite excited bout this movie, I felt it was a disappointment.
My husband and I decided to treat ourselves to this excessively long move on Christmas Eve.
While the CGI was top notch, the story line lacked finess and plausibility.
The movie dragged on as if to convince us it was good. They could have cut 45 min and made it a great flick by explaining more of the "why". I understand it was inferred, global warming, etc. But, I wanted more technical details. Not some spoon fed unlikeliness. And excuse me, why build all the arks in China? I am giving it 3 stars for the special effects, but not for the content.
