A new take on Sherlock Holmes

Holmes enthusiasts won't recognize Sherlock in the current movie; Watson either, for that matter. Both are younger and hipper than we would expect. If you are willing to accept new images of these two, you should enjoy the movie. Downey and Law are both fine in their roles. Downey, in fact, is terrific, plus Rachel McAdams is fine to look at. The story is, I think, much too fanciful--a kind of 19th c. science fiction, but fun nevertheless. The cinematology is great; I loved the dark 19th c. London. Even if you don't buy this new take on the famous detective, you will enjoy watching the movie. So go.
