New techniques, old storytelling

Step back from the adrenaline rush of the action and what you have is advanced 21st century movie techniques in service of an old-fashioned 19th century narrative.
The film does offer some genuine visual excitement but the Noble Savage vs. those claiming to be an advanced civilization has been told many times before in westerns, in colonial era set films, in Romans vs. Judea Jews, and in other sci-fi films. Unlike great sci-fi movies, there is nothing subtle here -- the heroes are pure, and the vilians are as black as Tin Can Harry from the first silent movies.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
