Would I recommend this movie to a friend? The answer is a resounding yes. In fact, I already have. Avatar is a gorgeous production enhanced even more being in 3D. Not only is it a completely beautiful, painstakingly detailed world, but it is all around you. You might find yourself sitting very still so you don't miss anything. The reviews you have read that state that the plot is predictable may be true, but it's what you want to have happen, so you are happy when you guess right. The acting is also quite fantastic, and the filmmaker's use of color (and lack thereof at times) enables you to really feel the movie rather than just watch it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
