Panders to the broadest of tastes - turns an incredible piece of socio-political satire into a mainstream American brawl and hamming for the camera. The only bright spot was Helena Bonham Carter's turn as the Red Queen. I saw this in IMAX 3-D and found myself wondering why I'd paid all that money for the enhancement of a very tedious movie.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

The story gets a little lost among all the whiz-bang special effects (which are certainly impressive). There are some very beautiful moments and Jim Carrey does a fine job as Scrooge and all 3 Christmas ghosts. Disney glorifies and amps up the scary bits a little too much - would not take very young children to see it, therefore.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
