Avatar unfortunately fails at everything it attempts to do.
The 3D is blurry in the foreground and background, so it ends up being an annoying distraction.
The plot is a lame, less inventive rehash of themes from Battle of the Ewoks, the Matrix, and Alien. A big disappointment considering Cameron's genius.
The human acting is also lame, seemed weird to even have those "real life" scenes. Are we redoing Mary Poppins here.
All in all, just a "gee whiz", "look mommy what I can do" featuring the latest CGI -- and the CGI was great -- just mainly ruined by gratuitous use of npot-ready -for-primetime 3D.
I'm a BIG fan of Cameron, so I will try to forget he did this flick.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
