Regardless of the fact that I love every actor in this film and found some of the numbers wonderful, this was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The star power couldn't overcome the lack of story. The lead character was very unlikeable and I just didn't find any redeeming qualities in him. I'm not a big fan of musicals but I did love Chicago (stage and film) as well as Moulin Rouge and La Boheme(film), and Chorus Line. The songs seemed to be used every time an emotion was being illustrated. By the time Nicole Kidman's character arrived on the scene I just didn't buy that her character would ever be remotely interested in the director.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
