Avatar is more an experience than a mere movie and must be seen in IMAX 3D to get the full effect. The world of Pandora contains detail and imagination beyond anything ever created in a movie before.
The story borrows heavily from Dances With Wolves. And the moral of the story, that only environmentalists and communal quasi-American Indians are pure enough to show the otherwise evil capitalist humans how to behave, is typical leftist Hollywood pap.
Nevertheless, the story moves with a lot of action and heart and never becomes boring. And the special effects are so breathtaking that you remain amazed at the experience of visiting an alien world.
This is a fun and visually amazing movie that I highly recommend.
