The 3-D Imax was impressive but slightly distracting in the first 10 minutes when the director was slowly introducing the characters. However, as the plot developed away from the human environment, the 3-D effects became a given element and allowed me to enjoy the stunning views and the spectacular effects. Yes, the story was a bit predictable and the dialogue was weak, but both aspects were better here than they were in TITANIC. One goes to see a James Cameron film to celebrate his vision, not for nuanced character development which was better than most CG-loaded films I have seen. The length of the film was perfect for me, unlike the LOTR trilogy which I also loved. I was not completely exhausted afterwards.
