With gut wrenching performances by Viggo Mortensen and newcomer Kodi Smit-McPhee, "The Road" is a harsh tale of survival set in a post apocalypse America where even hope has turned ashen gray. Following closely to the Cormac McCarthy novel, the film follows the journey of a father and sun walking across the wasteland once known as civilization in search of the blue shores of the southern oceans....and hope itself. Director John Hillcoat brings to the screen a father's love for his child and to what extent he'll go through to protect him. If you are of the weak of heart when it comes to violence on the screen, skip this movie, but if you are a fan of the book, this film delivers in every sense of the word.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
