Just like the book - but then again, NOT.

I re-read this book just recently and thought how great it would be to watch all these magnificent scenes come to life on the big screen. I was not disappointed.
The funny thing is, I was also not disappointed in how very differently the final portion of the story is portrayed in the film. The story line is vastly different toward the climax of the film and it's remarkable how this did not bother me as a prior reader one bit. The main story is intact, and the action is high paced. I would have liked it more if the historical details were not so quickly glossed over though.
For those who have read the book - and those who have not - it's definitely worth seeing the film.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Loud, explosive, Technicolor images - everything a teenager just loves!
If you're a thinking adult and want to watch a film where a real story unfolds, and not just look at a myriad of black and red images while your body vibrates in a sea of booming & blasting sound effects, stay away from this one at all costs!. Even in iMax!
