I have been excited for this movie, for what seems like a year now. I took my 6-year-old son on openening night. We both loved it. While it is a story about a princess, it is not a girly-pink-romance princess story. It is more about family, loving them for who they are, and living the lives we wish. That crosses gender.
It's a quick-moving story, funny, intense and emotional at all the right times.
My son did reach over the armrest and grab my elbow once. After the movie, he told me that it, "...maybe should've been rated PG-10" :-) So, you may want to hold back on the under-6 crowd, if they frighten easily.
I think it is the best Disney/Pixar movies since Cars.
Tangled was great in 3D. I didn't know if my son would like a "princess" movie, but he loved it. He laughed out loud, reached for the floating lanterns and cried at the end. He said, "Mommy, I'm crying, but I'm crying because I'm happy." I've read that it's the "Disney formula." It's well applied here. I would absolutely recommend the movie.
