Why does Hollywood make shaky movies?! It ruined it for me. If they want to make objects in the movie shake, then do it. DON'T SHAKE THE CAMERA! I know I'm watching a movie. No amount of hand held shaking of the camera is going to convince me that I'm not actually watching a freaking movie. No amount of camera shaking is going to convice me it's a documentary. No amount of camera shaking is going to convince me that somebody filmed an actual event and we're just playing back the video. PLLLLLLLLLLLLEASE! Are there idiots out there that actually fall for this? It seemed every angle is a close up and the camera moves quickly up and down and sideways etc. It's like they're trying to hide something.
As to the movie itself, there was little to no character development. It was one big battle scene without much build up to it and much in the way of explanation. Challenge me intellectually, please. This was a video game. A shaky Independence Day without the enjoyable actors and the humor. It could have been good, but it failed.
I had high expectations and they were exceeded. Action packed, funny and good special effects. The actors did a great job of channeling the original actors playing the classic roles without resulting in caricature performances.Yet, they also brought their own personalities to the roles. A very fun movie. It's such a great joy ride, especially in IMAX mode. No doubt there's a repeat viewing of this movie in the not too distant future.
I was disappointed with the movie. Nice special effects though. I liked the last 30 minutes a bit more than the rest of the movie. Christian Bale should NOT have used his Batman voice as John Connor. It's certainly a lot more fun when the Terminators arrive in the past before the Apocalypse. I missed Arnold, even though there's a photoshopped version in there for a cameo. I won't see it again any time soon. I can't say the same for Star Trek.
