I went to see this movie with my girlfriend tonight and was extremely impressed. I am not a person of faith, though she is, and yet we both enjoyed it equally.
With some big names and an all together great cast the acting was solid. The dialogue and build up as well everything else flowed very well for this type of movie.
The strongest message was that of perspective and how to achieve a greater one. How it can change not only how you look at others and the world but also how you look at yourself and your own struggles.
All in all a very worth film for anyone to see. If you don't see it in the theater it is most certainly worth your time to rent it or atleast catch it on the tube.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

If I had two more hands I would give this movie 4 thumbs up.
Let me start off by saying I did not enjoy The Day After Tomorrow, a previous film done by Emmerich. The movie 2012 was a cliche disaster movie. Don't believe comments saying it was "award worthy" or even "good". I assure you it was NOT any of those. And PLEASE don't bring your toddlers to this movie. That's just plain bad parenting regardless of the quality of the movie. Let me finish by saying I think The Day After Tomorrow was better than this movie.
