its nice to see someone take time and put in the details in a classic horror movie- because after watching this one thats all you feel- a sense of complete- the look of the sets, cloths and even the way it was shot pulls you back to the 80's- but with more- for me the dialog was great- the conversations felt more real than its 80's predecessors- you felt for the girl instead of assuming she was some dumb kid- it was creepy and a little scary for a little while until all h*ll broke lose- i really enjoyed this one- so see it when you can
i give this one a five for this reason- at times in unfamiliar places i get scared of the dark- most people do- i grew up on 80's horror movies- so for a long time i was afraid of the dark- this movie should be seen by yourself with very few people in the theater- do so will heighten your senses and put you on edge- A. your in an unfamiliar place B. your by yourself- thats how people should see this one- the characters are likable so you develop an emotional bound with them- making you not really want anything bad to happen to'em- they dont annoy you like most characters in scary movies- and the story slowly builds up- putting you on edge- so go see it- by yourself
simplicity is the key- some people have been complaining in the lack of story- have you ever read the book- its short- so what they did with it was fine- they didnt get all crazy and make something horrible- the story easy to follow- the visuals are beautiful- the cinematography was amazing and the soundtrack pulled it all together- a stunning piece of work- as much as i like action movies i also like low key beautifully made ones too- definitely a breath of fresh air- the thing that really got me the most was the length of the book- they could of done anything with this movie- so im glad they decided to stay true to the warmth of the original story
like i said- i was very surprise with this one- if you were a fan of the action movies of the 90's you'll love this one-it was action with a pretty good story that got you hooked right from the start- the pace was good- i didnt get bored but i really wanted for it to get more into his background- thats the only beef i got with it- it told you he was some crazy smart dude and he could do anything he wanted to but it never covered it- still i cant complain about it much- i liked it- i havent seen anyone make'm like this in awhile and im glad i saw it-so see it in the theater- its worth it
i gotta say i loved this movie- this one is more like the american shawn of the dead- so if you havent seen it- watch it- its great- the story of this one was very believable- it was grounded and not all out there- the characters were all likable- especially harrelson- who i havent seen make a big name movie in awhile- he still has it- and everyone else did there part- the humor was great- the pace was good- the gore factor could of been a little higher- but thats the only beef i had with it- and thats only because i was raised on 80's horror movies- so all in all- its worth seeing in the theaters- i was totally sucked in right from the start- so go out and see it- its time we start supporting good movies again-
like i said, im not really sure what to think- i love the cast- i love that its basically based on a true story but there are so many elements there that make it really not worth seeing it in the theater- there were just so many times were i was either bored or just tired of the dialog- the humor was wasnt funny most of the time- the plot was hard to follow- i really wanted to like this movie- i love clooney, spacey, bridges and everyone else but nothing really pulled me in- i really dont know what to say- yes its a good rental- and im sure we'll see it on usa or tnt one day- but its not worth seeing it in the theaters- well- view at your own risk
