This is not a story about the Wheeling family as much as it's a story about settling on an ordinary life and conforming to society's expectations. Most people are ordinary so it might make some viewers uncomfortable. Winslet's performance was far more interesting than in The Reader. DiCaprio should have taken home some gold. The movie ends differently than the book, but it works well. If you're in your 50's or older, the movie will take you back to an era that is now almost too strange to believe.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
