We took our 9 yr old niece to this film. She loved it! This updated version from the 1960's book features an imaginative, angry and a bit disillusioned 10 yr old boy who wishes things remain the same... Don't we all? The monsters and the music reflected Max's moods and thoughts Including both fear and anger.in a very creative way. This was our second time seeing the film. My husband and I noted more parents seemed to enjoy the film better than their very young children. The 3-6 yr old crowd screamed during the more intense scenes and those same children appeared to be bored in the quieter moments. This film is not for children OR ADULTS that have to be entertained by special effects and gun battles
