Solid family movie with exceptional 3D effects. It is very good at being what it is - a PG family-oriented adventure flick with some nice 3D effects. Worth investing 92 minutes of viewing time. Better to see this movie in 3D on a big screen than rent and/or buy it later and watch it in 2D on a home screen. See it.
I did watch the old TV series sporadically when I was a kid and I had some low expectations for this movie re-take (so many of these flop after all). Steve Carell has become the consummate comedic actor and again uses his skills to make this flick a top notch comedy gem. I laughed often throughout the movie as did the audience. If you go to this movie with the right understanding of the genre and with an appreciation of Steve Carell I think you will enjoy it and give it high marks. Worth the 110 minute investment. See it!
If you are an old comic book collector and aficionado as I am then you more than likely be thinking "this is the movie I've been waiting for". The director Leterrier and Ed Norton nail The Hulk and Bruce Banner in this near-perfect superhero comic book flick. Too bad that Ang Lee's angst-ridden first attempt will no-doubt dilute the impact of this movie including ticket sales. Good enough for me to say I will see it a second time - something I rarely do. Don't miss seeing this movie in a theater where the big green guy has a screen worthy of his Hulk-ness! Hulk Smash!
Captured the persona and flavor of Dr. Seuss and his myriad characters better than any Seuss take-off yet. Gorgeous animation. Perfect voice casting. I was in rapt wonderment for all 98 minutes. Take the whole family but I think there will be many 40+ year-olds that gain even more from this beautiful movie. A triumph.
Time to return The Mummy to it's restful tomb. The series has worn thin and everything seems tired, forced and stale. Most of the CGI was not good. The Yeti creatures seemed out of place and they did not mesh with the story in tone or visually. Felt as if director Cohen had said ...."ok we need some Yeti, and we need this battle scene, and we need this tomb scene, and this chase scene - now let's just stick all of these together with something and wrap it up. The first 2 movies were much better. Not worth the investment of nearly 2 hours.
The Narnia saga continues and it does not lose any steam with this entry. The origin is out of the way and our young protagonists are quickly back in the Kingdom of Narnia and fighting to save it! This is a well done tale for the whole family to see (over 7's anyway). The feel of the movie does well to capture the book's flavor. The CGI is particularly well done - some of the best I've seen in any of the current movie crop that depend heavily on it. Nothing here to pick a nit about. Kudos to Disney and another winner. See it!
A gorgeous movie to watch. All of the animation is beautiful in this movie about a little robot with a big heart. This movie will appeal to all age groups but I think "us older kids" may even appreciate it a bit more than the really young ones. We can relate to the loneliness, occasional boredom, tedium, isolation that we see Wall-e enmeshed in at the beginning of the movie and we can empathize and cheer him on as, through effort, chance and luck he changes his destiny and heads off for new adventures and love. Not just another "nuts & bolts" movie. Original, fun and a visual treat. See it!
Is there anything that Meryl Streep cannot do in the realm of acting (maybe anything...)? No - she can and does do everything....and she always does it flawlessly! Streep once again beguiles us with her humor, emotion, her physicality and her singing! Her singing? Yes - this lady can sing. The whole movie has such energy and lift with Streep leading the pack that we can joyously overlook Pierce Brosnan's inability to sing - even though he does give it the old English try. Somehow Streep perfectly channels the 4 Swedes into a gloriously entertaining musical! See it!
Fun, original movie from beginning to end. I laughed often as did everyone in the theater - both young and old alike. Another high-end animated flick that will become an instant classic and eventually go into families DVD libraries for babysitting purposes.....but for many adults it will be more than that as they watch it for the umpteenth time over the next few years. A great and successful effort. See it.
I fought off the negative reviews and I guess I should have my "skull" examined. I would sum up this lame homage to a movie icon by saying everything was "too old" ....the plot, the action, the dialogue, the effects, Karen Allen, Harrison Ford and, apparently, Steven Spielberg. Maybe everyone was "mailing it in" as the public rant to do another one kept droning on and they finally decided to "get it out of the way". Sad - because they could have made a good one and the nostalgia would have been intact. Skip it and watch the original or any of the first 3 instead.
