Another surprising and enjoyable movie. Franco and Rogen are the perfect buddy movie stoner pals. For the genre this flick is a trip and more than a couple of good laughs. As a matter of fact I laughed regularly and often throughout the viewing. If you are attracted to this movie genre or simply have eclectic movie taste you should enjoy this quirky tale of pot-head stooges unleashed. Relax, loosen up and prepare for some grins and chuckles.
Lots of horror movie "schlock" lately. This is a bit "schlocky too....but better schlock than most of the recent horror film gambits. Kiefer Sutherland's excellent performance helps pull it out of 2 star territory and into the respectable C+/B- range and gives it enough worthiness to invest hard-earned movie-going time & money in. I found it interesting and well-paced. Kept me involved and I was invested in where the story was going. A nice, imaginative diversion. Ok to to see in theater or rent later....but worth a viewing.
Went in with low expectations and came out with a smile on my face. Even though my expectations were low I new the "kind of a movie" I was going to see. After all it was called "House Bunny"...it was obviously a college comedy....and involved a "dumb blond" interacting with college students. Based on this general knowledge the flick greatly exceeded my expectations and, for the genre, it was a very good and funny movie. I enjoyed the whole dip in this "child's wading pool of a movie". If you are in the mood for some lighthearted college comedy fun see it. If you are looking for an action movie or Shakespearean drama skip it.
What a nice surprise. I love seeing a "small adult-oriented movie" that is so well put together and acted. They are rare but have become my favorite theater-going experiences. This movie is a gem....nearly perfect. Original, great suspense story, fun dialogue, well-acted, directed and edited. It is sad that few will see it. As the movie did not linger long in theaters you will probably need to rent it. Please do. You will not be disappointed. May be in my top 10 for 2008. Kudos to everyone who worked on this quality movie. If you are over 21 - see this mini-masterpiece.
The only thing that makes this movie worth seeing is the screen presence and interaction between 2 of the all-time greats - DeNiro and Pacino. Too bad they did not have a better story and better script to invest their star-power in. Predicted the ending about 15 minutes into the movie which made the entire film a bit grueling....except for that magic of seeing Bob and Al do "their thing". If you are not big fans of the 2 stars then you should skip or rent this movie. You decide.
A perfect Christmas movie fable. Hard to believe this movie is over 3 hrs long - including previews. The time flew by as we we sat in the theater transfixed by the story, the imagery, the mystery and the exceptional acting by Pitt and Blanchett. The CGI, makeup and visual effects were seamless thus allowing us to focus on the fascinating story of Benjamin Button. Bravo to director Fincher! This is a love story wrapped around the axle of life which occasionally entraps us - allowing just a few fleeting glimpses of our greatest possibilities and realized dreams. An updated and richer "Forrest Gump"-kind of a movie. See it in an actual movie theater for maximum effect. This magical movie "pushes all the right buttons".
Went in with low expectations,,,,mostly because of Nick Cage's recent body of work. This movie was a pleasant surprise. It had pathos, action, originality and even a moral. Cage was excellent. Best we've seen him in along time. I recommend this action flick. You will not be disappointed as long as you are not expecting something beyond the genre.
This is an ok movie....and it would be very ok to just rent it. It is predictable even as it pretends not to be. Jackson turns in a nice performance. Just nothing special and I'm really not sure what the whole point was. Worth seeing for Jackson's portrayal of a cop off the "deep end". Too long with too many implausible moments and leaps past logic. Flip a coin. My bet is that a lot of women will not like it and a majority of men will like it. If you have limited movie ticket money investment capital you really should skip this one.
Let me be very straightforward and honest and just say that I am not a big "chick-flick" kind-of a guy (any guys out there relate to that?). That said I really enjoyed this tale of star-crossed lovers that is painted over the backdrop of a storm and a gorgeous sea-side home. Gere and Lane are at their best in this movie and there is no denying their on-screen chemistry. They should make a movie together every couple of years as they are THAT GOOD together! Hold your honey's hand and settle in for a good old romantic tale that will wrap you up in it's atmosphere and story. Well done. Not just a date movie. See it!
Let me save you the time and money investment you would waste and rue having parted with to see this awful movie. Much better to rent Cloverfield and see it for a second time. You will get the basic same premise with the "you are there in real time" jiggling camera movement with a far better written and enjoyable story. Summary: Trapped people are becoming diseased in an old hotel....they are killing each other....the lights are going out....everyone dies....BOO! There you have now been scared and entertained more than what you would derive from viewing the actual movie. You owe me.
