I've seen a lot of reviews that ravage this flick. It is not that bad. Original concept that I felt was well portrayed on the big screen. Due to the nature of the effects this movie will be better viewed on a large screen. This is an actioneer with decent acting. I had fun and everyone in the theater appeared to enjoy themselves. It's only 88 minutes long and is tightly edited. No lag time. The movie flows and moves quickly. Worth a viewing.
The Coen brothers do it again! I love movies that keep me guessing and are jam-packed with characters, great dialogue, interesting original story lines, well-acted, have unusual cinematic visual styling and, last but not least, have improbable (or un-guessable) endings. It does not hurt either if woven throughout there is a message with moral meaning or a life lesson. This is what the Coen's do so well and they do it here - once again. Javier Bardem's "bad-guy" will go down in cinematic history as one of the great bad-guys of all time - for sure. A masterpiece. Don't miss it.
Virtually the same movie as the first one. Same basic plot and much of the same dialogue. Not enough tension or twists to improve on the original - and it is too long. Well acted and good effects barely place it in the "recommend category". Hope these end here unless they find a way to really "spice it up" and create some twist and turns. Flip a coin.
Rambo is aging. He has become reclusive, contemplative and a bit depressed....but he is still in top physical shape and has all of those combat skills and instincts that make the character an action hero favorite. Stallone does Rambo justice in story and portrayal with his acting and direction in what I believe is the best Rambo movie in the series. This is a very violent movie and only for the over 17's or over 21's. Not for the kiddies. Good work by Sly Stallone.
I'm sure that the under 13 year olds will love this movie. For the teens and above it will seem very predictable and average. For us really old folk (the over 40's) we will just be pleasantly surprised that Adam Sandler can make a movie that is "clean enough" to be seen by kids under 17...and I admit to laughing out loud a few times. Even more surprised that we could only count 2 flatulence jokes! Who knew? Good family fare but did seem a bit long even at only 95 minutes. Nothing to "write home about" but clean and safe for the whole family.
A quality martial arts movie. Ejiofor is very good and is bound for even greater roles and larger acclaim .....you can bet on it. Enjoyed the story of a principled fighter standing up for the truth. This is a well-told story in script, dialogue, plot, editing and pacing. Highly recommended - but only for the over 18 crowd. A powerful movie.
Sounds like a schizophrenic steak order - "rare and well-done" but that is exactly what this new political satire movie is. It was funny and biting and had a new target....political and hollywood lefties. These groups are so coddled and protected by mainstream media and the entertainment/media power players one almost cannot believe a movie satire like this actually somehow got made. The writing, script and actors were all good. My only complaint ....wanted it to be a bit more vicious, include more takes on more of the leftwing loonies and a bit longer. oh well - it's a start. Hopefully Zucker and his Troupe of right wing, right-thinking actors can keep it going and make another soon. We all know they will have plenty of material!
Seems like many critics have been slamming and dog-piling on this movie. I don't see the reason(s) for the "attack". Mark Wahlberg is good in this role as the rogue cop out for justice battling both the seen and unseen. I enjoyed the action, suspense, terse dialogue and the fantasy sequences. This movie is better than it is being credited for. I do not play video games and thus have no reference as to the accuracy of the portrayal....but this is a visually cool and interesting movie that any 18 year+ old guy and many of their gals will enjoy. It has style. See it.
A nice surprise. Don Cheadle is really good. The movie is suspenseful and unpredictable. Perhaps a bit long at 110 minutes and there were a couple of slow spots ( a minor negative). Overall an engaging story that holds your attention and keeps you involved. Enjoyed the story, dialogue, all of the actors, the twists and turns, the action, the tension and the ending. Worth seeing.
Ellen Page will be a star and we know this because of how well she channels the main character (Juno) in this complex and well-done movie. Talk about "nailing a role". Woooo-boy does she. How can you not like her character and the banter and the complicated relationships between boyfriend, family and adoptive parents. We really love this movie. Bought it on DVD the second it came out. Magic. Lightning in a jar. See it or rent it or buy it. Enjoy.
