Lee Daniels captured the essence of the book and manages to tell a story that draws you in to the lives of people I believe most Americans struggle to empathize with. Complex and devastating performances by a surprising cast, I hope that Oscar buzz can bring this movie to the masses. It's also a powerfully realistic depiction of post traumatic stress disorder for those interested in mental health issues in adolescents.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
