My first Hoffman. I was surprised and delighted. Loved the absynthe-fueled decadence of Act 1. Excellent acting, particularly Kate Lindsey. Marvelous singing and playing. Good to see Jimmy back in action; look forward to seeing him in February at the BSO. Some fff moments were too loud; don't know if it was the theater (AMC Randolph, MA) or the Met feed. Interviews also on the loud side. The single sheet handout listed Verdi as the composer and gave only the stars' names. Who sang Antonia's father? (Not on the Met's site either!) I'd like some more mid-range shots; close-ups are fine, but overdone. Overall: spectacular. Keep it up Met! (Why not every Saturday?) Audience: bribe the kids to come, so we can get the mean age down!
